Supply
Chain Management (SCM) in the pharmaceutical industry refers to the process of overseeing
the production, movement, and distribution of pharmaceutical products—from raw
materials and ingredients to finished medicines delivered to healthcare
providers, patients, or pharmacies. It involves a series of interconnected
activities designed to ensure that drugs are produced efficiently, safely, and
in compliance with regulations, and are delivered to the right place at the
right time and at the right cost.
Given the highly regulated and complex nature of the pharmaceutical industry, effective supply chain management is critical in ensuring the availability, safety, and quality of medications.
